John 11:1-3
Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 (This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.) 3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.”
After hearing this Jesus waited two more days, then Jesus told his disciples we must return to Judea. Our FRIEND Lazarus has fallen asleep, I am going there to wake him up. Jesus comforted the sisters of Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Jesus loved Mary and Martha.
Martha told Jesus “Lazarus our brother is DEAD.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 43 Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
I. Lazarus was love by Jesus
II. Jesus said “Let us to go our friend, he has fallen asleep. Jesus knew the need of Lazarus even though he was not present.
III. 11:14 Lazarus is DEAD. 16 “Then Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” 25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
1. You and I go through times of suffering.
2. What are we to do: PRAY. The Father knows….God knows what we need when we don’t have a clue.
3. Death of a body is part of every life. Faith in God brings a new body . . . .a glorified body that will never suffer, one that will live forever in eternity.
